A Festive Day Out at Winchester Christmas Market

This winter, members of the Kaleidoscopic UK community wrapped up warm and headed out together for a truly festive group trip to the much-loved Winchester Christmas Market and what a day it was.

Set against the stunning backdrop of Winchester Cathedral, the market offered a magical mix of twinkling lights, cosy wooden chalets, and the comforting smells of mulled wine, roasted chestnuts and festive treats. Alongside the market, our group also spent time visiting Winchester Cathedral itself, soaking up its beauty, history and calm winter atmosphere, an experience that many described as a real highlight of the day.

For many of our group, the trip was about much more than sightseeing. It was about winter vibes, good food, shared laughter and being together. Throughout the day, people explored at their own pace, enjoyed hot food and drinks together, picked up festive gifts, and took time to chat, laugh and connect. For some, it was their first visit to Winchester; for others, a return to a favourite Christmas tradition but for everyone, it was a joyful and memorable day out.

Group trips like this play a vital role in reducing isolation, building confidence and creating opportunities for connection, particularly during the winter months when many survivors can find things more difficult. Seeing people relaxed, smiling, supporting one another and having the best time was a powerful reminder of why these shared experiences matter so much.

We would like to say a huge thank you to Wokingham Town Council for funding both the trip to Winchester Christmas Market and our visit to Winchester Cathedral. Their support made this day possible and ensured our community members could access a festive, inclusive experience filled with warmth, culture and connection.

We are incredibly grateful for their continued commitment to wellbeing, inclusion and community. We’re already looking forward to many more shared adventures ahead and to creating even more moments of joy together. ✨
