Our CEO Vickie Robertson BEM was invited to the first Domestic violence summit held by Redeemed Christian Church of God Victory at Reading and Pastor (MRS) DORCAS ADEKOLA.

Domestic abuse is an issue that, unfortunately, is also prevalent in church communities. It is crucial for churches to join in the fight against abuse, provide support and resources to those affected and work towards prevention. By raising awareness and fostering a supportive environment, we can help protect and heal community members.

The summit aims were to raise awareness about domestic abuse, provide support and resources to those affected, and foster a community of understanding and action. It is vital to share knowledge, experiences, and strategies for addressing and preventing domestic abuse in all areas, challenge myths and identify gaps.

We are so grateful to be part of opening the conversations to create the vital prevention and change needed throughout society including the church community, domestic abuse happens in all areas in all communities.

Our CEO delivered an insightful training about recognising the signs of domestic abuse, the subtleties and complexities, the short and long term impact and the support available, drawing on her own lived experience, vast knowledge and expert insights. Vickie shared the stage with many other amazing organisations such as Flag DV and Pastor Oliver Lamping who both delivered incredible presentations covering Family Law and addressing Perpetrators. All joined the stage together for the Panel discussion along with the Church team for further discussions and answer questions posed by the congregation, showing the importance of being open and challenging the understanding of abuse and its dynamics within relationships and church.

The day was filled with so much love, passion, engagement and incredible people, it was a true pleasure to meet all. It was a great opportunity to see the change you are trying to create for your community and the passion you all radiate.
